About / Italian Cultural Center of Western Mass
Before the Center’s establishment, many local Italian cultural groups existed independently. The ICCWM brought these efforts together under one umbrella—creating a welcoming space where traditions could be shared, celebrated, and passed on to future generations.
Founded in 1985, the ICC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting,
and celebrating Italian culture and heritage.
ICC-WM History:
1985 – Founding: Officially incorporated to serve as the central hub for Italian cultural life in Western Massachusetts.
Acushnet Avenue: The Center’s first home, where its early programs and community gatherings took shape.
2006 – Relocation: Moved to Maple Street as a temporary location while seeking a permanent home to expand programming and outreach.
Our Mission:
Foster appreciation for Italian language, art, history, and traditions.
Build a stronger sense of community among Italian Americans and friends of Italian culture.
Provide cultural, educational, and social programs that inspire connection across generations.
Our Vision:
The Italian Cultural Center is more than just a gathering place—it is a living tribute to the contributions of Italy
and it's people, ensuring that Italian heritage remains vibrant, visible, and celebrated for years to come.

🎉 Grand Opening! 🎉
Italian Cultural Center of Western MA
Thanks to our volunteers: Cooks and deliverers, we had phenomenal success with our Takeout event on April 9th. We made more than $4,000 and served over 500 meals! Our online Italian language classes have also proved to be extremely successful. We had 10 beginner students and 7 intermediate students sign up for the classes. The students have been very excited about the class and about the instructor. Some have even expressed a desire to continue after this session.
This is also the time of year when the ICC gives out scholarships to young people of Italian heritage who are going on to college. We gave out 12 scholarships this year. Check out the winners by going to the Scholarship tab. As a reminder donations are still welcomed and can be made directly to the ICC at 56 Margaret Street, Springfield, MA 01105. All donations are tax deductible, greatly appreciated, and necessary to resume our mission to promote Italian culture in the Western MA.
Stay safe and healthy.
